Oleksandr Merezhko Initiated the Creation of the “Free Ichkeria” Parliamentary Association in Ukraine

Oleksandr Merezhko, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Foreign Policy and Interparliamentary Cooperation, initiated the establishment of the inter-factional parliamentary association “Free Ichkeria” in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

The creation of the association was officially announced from the parliamentary rostrum by First Deputy Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada, Oleksandr Korniyenko.

The association initially brought together 12 members of parliament representing Ukraine’s three major political parties: Servant of the People, European Solidarity, and Holos.

Oleksandr Merezhko was elected head of the Free Ichkeria parliamentary association. He also announced cooperation with the United Force movement of the united Chechen diaspora aimed at developing joint legislative initiatives between the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria and Ukraine to support the restoration and development of Ichkerian statehood.
